It's been a busy... ten weeks?! I don't know how long it's been. But fuck it, I may as well show you some of the stuff I've done lately. These three are pages from my new kids book "The Takers" that I've been working on.

This morning I woke up and I was absolutely adamant that I would draw some kind of Autumn scene. I fucking love Autumn. It's so fucking romantic. It's not so cold that you can't enjoy being outside still but it's cold enough that you can wear coats and stuff again while snuggling up to a loved one. If you have one. Also the illustration friday word was "together" so I thought fuck it, let's do a couple. So, here's my adorable same sex couple. I actually spent at least eight hours doing the prep sketches and the final image today. That's unusual for me. I can't usually keep working on something for more than three hours straight before I have to break but I've been hammering this out today. It didn't even feel like eight hours! I'm happy! YES!

Now then, I'm once again being somewhat cheeky with my Illustraion Friday entry (two in one week!). I really liked doing my spider-dan image, I think I really like doing night-time cartoons. So that was my first thought when doing this. Let's make it night time. Then I wanted some kind of monster. Then I think I had a torch out in my flat and thought OH IMAGINE YOU'RE CAMPING AND THERE'S A MONSTER BEHIND YOU. So there you have it! I think the thought process really was that straight forward. Now, the word "hidden" is implied due to the nature of the cheeky monster. He hasn't been spotted, hence he's hidden. I think I might stick this in my portfolio actually. Yeah, I will.

I really did YET ANOTHER self portrait to showcase the kind of personalised commissions that I'm offering up. These commissions can be very specific. For example, the last one I did was of a girl chasing her boyfriend in a wedding dress that was stained with blood. Her boyfriend was dressed as Batman without the face mask. I know, right?! I've also been contacted for a future Breaking Bad custom commission too. Now, I wanted to get this image out there a little so I've posted it to illustration friday under the theme "hidden". As in, my not so hidden identity as Spider-Dan. Yeah? Ooohhh that was being awfully cheeky wasn't it? I see people post stuff on that page all the time though that ties in far less appropriately with the word of the week. SO, if you would like me to do some custom art for you or a loved ones birthday or whatever, GIVE ME A SHOUT. You can contact me through here or through my facebook page (link at the side) or a multitude of other ways I think. There are plenty of links at the side, just check them out or something. I'm happy to take any questions and discuss things such as prices or even just to chat about a future idea you might have.

I had to take a break from trying to figure out all of this map business (see previous post). It's been an interesting weekend of actual real life socialising with an old chum. It felt weird to go back to being alone again so I got all reflective and started thinking about where this need to be isolated came from. Obviously this meant digging around in my childhood. While I was thinking about that I had to laugh at how goofy I was around the age of ten. Lanky as fuck, blonde hair, awful clothes. I was quite the catch! Not a lot has changed except that my hair went brown and I grew a beard. I always enjoy self portraits and this was no exception, despite the awkward, anxious expression that I'm rocking in the picture.

One of my awesome vegan friends asked me if I could do a map illustration of Paris showing the locations of vegan restaurants. It's absolutely nothing like what I'm used to which is scary and tricky but I thought I'd keep my blog informed about my progress. These are two sort of idea sheets that I've been sending to get feedback while I've been working on them. Also it should be stated that normally I wouldn't be so forthcoming to do free work but I'm all about spreading veganism so I'm happy to help while I've got the time to.

I don't know why but this morning I woke up and thought to myself "Today I want to draw Fry". As you can see, I did. I wanted to go back to the very first time that Fry and Bender met. There was a time in my life when I couldn't sleep (and I genuinely mean this) if I didn't put Futurama on. It became a sort of ritual. Consequently, I can recite most of the words from series 1-4 (I never picked up the new series except for one of the dvd feature lengths). I was sad to hear a few months back that the show is being axed yet again while shows that have LONG outstayed their welcome in my opinion (The Simpsons) still limp on. Oh well, the Futurama team will always be one of the most awesome cast of characters in an animated show.
